On 23-24 October 2025, the University of Elbasan “Aleksandër Xhuvani”, Albania, successfully organise the 2nd SuProM Project Management Training, bringing together more than 70 participants including administrative staff, academics, researchers, and students from Albanian institutions for two intensive days of learning, exchange, and collaboration.
The SuProM project aims to build sustainable project management capacity in higher education institutions and the Elbasan training advanced this goal by equipping participants with practical skills and knowledge to effectively plan, manage, and deliver European projects.
Participants were guided through the key concepts and tools for EU project applications. They also explored project roles, processes, and delivery, learned how to embed sustainability and impact in project development, and gained insights from local institutions on sustainable regional development and university–municipality cooperation.
Highlights from the Training
The opening session featured welcoming remarks from Prof. Dr. Elvira Fetahu, Rector of the University of Elbasan and Mr. Miha Pezelj, Team Leader at the EU Delegation to Albania. They highlighted the importance of the SuProM project in strengthening the institutional capacity of Albanian higher education institutions.
Speakers from the University of Ljubljana, the District Council of Elbasan, the Municipality of Elbasan, and National Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation (NASRI), shared insights on sustainable regional development, university–municipality cooperation, and effective management of European projects in higher education.
Across two days, participants attended keynote presentations, interactive workshops, and expert-led sessions, including:
- “Embedding Sustainability and Impact in Project Development” — University of Palermo
- Applying for EU Projects: Key Concepts and Tools” — CESIE ETS
- A thematic workshop session on project roles, processes, and delivery in EU project management — University of Ljubljana
These sessions provided practical tools and real-world examples on how to design, implement, and manage successful EU-funded projects, with a strong focus on sustainability and long-term impact.
This marked the second SuProM training under Work Package 3, following the first session in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina,last September. The series will continue with the third training in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, scheduled for early 2026.
